Hi All,
Not only did I finish the 2 crackers for the set of 6, which
I adore, I managed a couple more to add to the box for gifts, no idea what I will
put in them, didn’t think that far ahead, but I have them ready to go, so it’s
a start.
I also made a pair of Halloween ones, to match my Polkadoodles
pumpkin, which I am sure will hang in my window this year,
I went off upstairs thinking I would probably fall fast
asleep but I was wide awake, so I started cutting the dies, and before I knew
it was 5am, it’s amazing how much time slips away, only downside is moving
around after so long, and because I took my medication before I started I didn’t
feel much whilst I was working, but the moment I moved I knew it, so I had to
waddle off to the bathroom and waddle back, and try and sleep, because I knew I
was up at 9:30 to take over from my son, he helps my youngest get up and ready
for school, and he can be a bit of a pain getting up and dressed,
Our house is somewhat different to most, usually you hear of
families where one has Autism and everyone has to work around that one person
and try and live a normal life, our house is full of autistic people and we
have one who isn’t diagnosed and it works pretty much the same but in reverse,
he has to work around us as we are all in a routine, and we work pretty well
together, we are used to each other’s unique quirks and preferences and we are
used to ignoring certain not so good behaviours where my eldest son having
lived away from home for so long isn’t anymore. Growing up in an autistic
household was different for him it was only when he left school and started
college that he really noticed how different life was in our house. I am a rare
parent who has always played computer games with them, it’s a great opening for
communication, although they don’t all share my love for crafts I share their
love of gaming and we often play together as a family, and apparently not all
mums do that. I personally don’t see why not, it’s only a game, and am sure
that they play board games as a family at times, but after a few comments from
their friends saying oh your mum is so cool, mine wouldn’t play games like that
I began to realise I was different.
So, I haven’t just done the crackers this week, I have made
quite a few of the Kaleidoscope boxes, which I adore,
I try and see how many different styles and themes I can do,
and yes, I do have favourites but usually they change so frequently, my Polkadoodles
ones seem to be loved by everyone, which is really nice, i use a lot of scrapbook kits in my makes, even if it isn't a scrapbook page, they can add so much to your makes. i'm surprised that no one does it regularly, or is it that they just don't talk about it much...
On the Halloween box i posted yesterday I had a comment that
it was great even though the lady didn’t usually like Halloween makes,
I guess it’s still not a celebration everyone embraces. Most don’t realise the
true origins of it anyway.
